Synthesis and Characterization of Lithium Manganese Oxide (LiMn2O4) from Manganese Ore via Solid State Reaction Route
Characterization of Lithium Manganese oxide
Abstract
Utilization of natural ores and extraction of valuable metals is an important and interesting research area. It is based on the current study which is focuses on the solid-state reaction based synthesis of lithium manganese oxide (LiMn204) from Mn-0re. From the Mn-0re, manganese oxide (Mn304) was extracted and the powdered manganese oxide (Mn304) was then combined with lithium hydroxide monohydrate (Li0H-H20) to produce lithium manganese oxide (LiMn204). X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed the formation of single phase lithium manganese oxide (LiMn204) with particle size 15.88 nm. Microstructural analysis shows a porous surface and confirms the formation of lithium manganese oxide (LiMn204) nanoparticles. Additionally, it demonstrates that the produced nanoparticles form and develop in a very synchronized manner. Elemental analysis of the samples further confirmed the successful synthesis of lithium manganese oxide (LiMn204) nanoparticles. Due to its simplicity and affordability, this process could be employed to develop lithium manganese oxide (LiMn204).
